Unit overview:
In this unit the children will receive a special parcel from the Local Bakery containing ingredients and a letter to the children! They need us to help them make biscuits for their bakery. They will explore the layout and features of recipes using the big book – ‘My First Cookbook’. They will follow oral instructions when decorating a biscuit a biscuit. The children will identify and apply their knowledge of imperative verbs and temporal connectives. The children will also recognise and use present tense verbs and the use of coordinating and subordinating conjunctions. A practical lesson will follow this where the children must follow a recipe to make some biscuits. Based on the children’s experience, children will then plan and write their own instructions (recipe), with command sentences on how to decorate a make a biscuit. The children will have the opportunity to follow their recipe and decorate their biscuit ready to be delivered to the bakery shop. 8 lessons with accompanying resources.
